Hey Adam, Kakalios totally realized a dream:

For the rest of you, the guy in this article was my physics professor at the U for two different classes.  I am jealous.

JCVD
Went to see My Name Is Bruce Sunday night. Fun flick. Typical B movie acting, dialogue, and special effects -- all tongue-in-cheek of course. And BC's Q&A afterwards was fun. He's pretty good at handling crowds and fanboys. It was a good time.

Also there was a trailer for this new movie called JCVD. If you're unawares, like I was, it's not entirely unlike the above movie in that Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as himself in a fictional story. It's about him as a struggling actor who hasn't had work in a while and hard up for money. So he holds up a bank. Hostage situations and all. It kind of made me keanu ('woah'). Supposedly he's really good in it.

Also, why are people surprised every year when it gets ass cold out and it snows? You live in Minnesota. This is not unusual. I guess some people just like having something to bitch about.

So, after getting my iPhone and being with AT&T since July, I just payed my first 'normal' phone bill. That is, the first bill in which I wasn't charged (erroneously or otherwise) anything but for the services I used: $80.86 including my U discount. Not too bad, considering.

Did you know there's a designated survivor when the President and other top leaders are gathered at a single location? Just in case someone nuke's them all, there's still a determined successor. They get stuck somewhere "physically distant, secure, and undisclosed". Fun.

Bruce Campbell is presenting My Name Is Bruce at the Lagoon next month. His fame amuses me, and I fully support it.

Got my iPhone today. Been playing with it most of the evening. Apps are fun. Also on the plus side, it appears I get better signal in my house from AT&T that I did from Verizon. And it pairs much better (more reliably) with bluetooth headsets (or handsets) than my old phone. I'm pleased.

Milwaukee was fun. Elisa and I did a fair amount of sight seeing, including the zoo (which I haven't been to in years), the art museum, Discovery World, and other things. Hung out with [info]agentqup a bit. Had brunch with Chris, Tristam, Justin, and Nikki(sp?). Good food, good company, good times.

I also got a free NES Advantage controller from CD Max. It's 'broken', but the guy said the turbo is just stuck on. I can probably fix it. :)

We also went to the Sprecher brewery where I discovered: they make a cherry cola now, which is quite tasty (actually tastes like cherries, not cherry flavoring) and they have a limited time malt beverage known as XXX. It's their rootbeer, fermented in bourbon barrels. Only available from the brewery in 64oz growlers, and it's damn tasty.

Want to see me make a pencil disappear? Heh. Yeah.

I think I'm going to be dubbing this Batmanimatrix. Direct to video, 6 animated shorts from different directors that take place in the time between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Enjoy:

Available 7/8/08.

Just watched the teaser for X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Made me realize how much I miss that show.

I hope it's good.

First, my birthday was really fun. Sarah's meat cake was fantastic, as was Erin's cake meat. Other's food stuffs were also quite delicious. I'll post some pictures sometime.

And Iron Man... oh man... so good. This is what happens when the people making comic book movies actually READ comics. Go see this movie. I want more. Also, if you're a fan, stay through the credits. That's all I'm saying.

I also saw a sneak of Speed Racer, thanks to Erin, which I'll say was good. It was definitely kiddy, but visually stunning, and a decent adaptation in my opinion. Worth seeing.

Took the DeLorean out for real for the first time in a long time. Still drives pretty well. I did a little work on it replacing the radio with a new one (which was a fair amount of work because it involved replacing a panel in the car with one designed to fit modern radios. I did this because the original radio stopped working -- according to the mechanic, which I later discovered on my own was just a blown fuse. I'd done enough work toward putting in the new one I figured I'd just keep going and keep the old one around.

Josh and I also changed the oil in his car and my Saab. The DeLorean's drain plug is both unusually shaped and hard to access, so I haven't actually gotten that changed yet. Soon....

Yep.

Dan out.
